Dates:2018-11-30 ~ 2019-12-31
Venue:Treasure Hill Artist Village, Baowoo (next to the grocery store)
The Story of Us is curated by Chen Chih-Hsu, featuring artist Lin Xing-Yi, collaborating with Taipei Media School and Treasure Hill Village Cultural Association.
For people visiting the Treasure Hill, they might have known it as an artist village, where artists have long stay and create things. People might also have known it as a place for them to take nice pictures, and temporarily drift away from the mundane world. What visitors might not know is, a group of residents live here, which is why the Treasure Hill is called a village.
Even if visitors do know the Treasure Hill is home to this handful of citizens, they might not know how they were authorized, and how they are related to the artist village. What is the idea behind the co-existence of art and life, or the so-called co-living village, its historical context and rise and fall? In order to answer these questions, the Treasure Village Story House was thus curated.
This subject of story-house aims at recording and relating these ordinary people’s past, life, and stories, so people outside may know the inside stories. There are three dimensions to this one subject, after considering exhibition venues available and historical resources in hand. The first is verbal, visual, and material expressions of the community people’s life. The second is papercutting shows about daily life of the residents, and historical stories of the village. And the last is playing of documentaries by students from Taipei media schools. Hopefully visitors can have in-depth understanding of the village. The Treasure Hill as a community can gain its momentum by gathering people inside out.
